Opus 5.5 is F*cking unbelievable
Plus, Jev, the AI model everyone's losing it over
Hey, ladies and gents.
Huge week for AI
Anyone else getting a bit dizzy with all this crazy stuff?
📌 TL;DR
- Opus 5.5 just shipped → insanely fast, around 40% cheaper than Opus 5, and the first model I've had no complaints with. Plus three things to try in your first session.
- OpenAI dropped GPT-6 Sol and Luna → not a frontier model, just unbelievably cheap. My honest take.
- Jev: the new type of AI model → it doesn't write answers, it picks them. Plus how businesses are already using it.
- Three things I built with Opus 5.5 → a client dashboard, a content scout for my competitors' videos, and a fully fleshed raft game.
Opus 5.5 is unbelievable

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 the other day and holy f*ck, I'm impressed.
First time I have had no complaints with a model.
It's insanely fast, smarter than Fable 5.1, and not to mention ~40% cheaper than Opus 5 per task.

The head engineer at Anthropic put it really well: "Opus 5.5 is the result of your feedback. It communicates clearly, it's cheaper per token than Opus 5.0 with the intelligence of Fable 5.1, it's very token efficient and works across every effort level."
Communicating naturally is a game changer compared to Opus 5, which would literally just word vomit at you.
They also removed EM DASHES!!
I've been abusing this model for the past couple of days. I've been doing tasks, specifically builds, that would have taken hours and come with tons of bugs, and getting them done in twenty minutes, completely polished.
It just feels so smart. And I'm catching myself about to tell it to do something, and it just automatically does it.
Some stuff people have built:

OpenAI ships GPT-6 Sol and Luna

Just 90 minutes after Claude released Opus 5.5, OpenAI dropped GPT-6 Sol and Luna.
This is not a frontier model, so it's no Fable 5.1 or GPT-6 Astra.
It's basically just a way cheaper version of their older models, GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.6 Luna.
Definitely can't compare it to Opus 5.5.
Astra is still OpenAI's best model, but Sol is half the price of the model that replaces it.
So yeah, these models are just getting cheaper by the day. I've been trying out GPT-6 Sol and I would say it's pretty good. The intelligence is there and it's just unbelievably cheap.
Jev: The new type of AI model & how businesses are already using it

One of the guys behind ChatGPT built an AI model called Jev.
It's going crazy viral at the moment. And it's not what you think.
Here's the hype explained simply:
Every AI you've used (ChatGPT, Claude) writes an answer, one word at a time, like an email or an essay.
Jev doesn't write at all. It picks.
You give it something like an email and a short list of possible answers ("spam / not spam"). It points at one and tells you how sure it is. "90% spam." Done.
Or you might say, "What color is this banana?" And the output will probably look something like this:
80% Yellow
10% Orange
10% Red
And it would choose yellow, since 80% is the highest probability.

This is a really good explanation.
Ok, but why does this matter?
- It basically can't hallucinate. So it can't make up any answers.
- It's insanely fast and cheap (20-200x faster and 40-400x cheaper).
Using Claude to make every simple yes/no decision now just looks like burning money, when a model like Jev can make it instantly for next to nothing.
This is what people are building with it:

Here are some good use cases.
- Inbox sorting: every email gets a category, a priority and a spam score
- Lead scoring: every contact form enquiry gets a "good lead" percentage
- Finding missed leads: run it over old emails to find clients you forgot to follow up with
- Support routing: each customer message goes straight to the right team
- Instant quotes: a customer gets matched with the best local business straight away
- Video clips: it picks the best short clips out of a long video in seconds
- Browser control: it searched a Zurich to London flight in 7.1 seconds
Also this week...
Grok Bot got a bunch of new features → voice calls and voice memos, a 1Password vault for your logins, account switching, and it can browse through your own computer.
xAI launched Grok 4.7 → their new model for coding and office work. They say it's twice as fast as similar models, and it's free to try in Grok Build.
Salesforce now works inside Claude → switch on the plugin and Claude can see your deals and accounts, brief you before calls and update your records, with 37 ready-made sales skills built in. It's a beta for companies Salesforce approves.
ElevenLabs launched an AI receptionist for small businesses → it's called Reception. It answers your calls around the clock, answers questions about your business and books appointments straight into your calendar.
Claude Code now reads AGENTS.md → took them long enough.
💡 Builder's notes
Stuff I built with Opus 5.5
Here are some things I've built with Opus 5.5 in a couple of days.
These would usually take hours and come back with infinite bugs. Each one took around thirty minutes to an hour and came back fully polished.
1. Personal Dashboard for a client of mine
Was impressed with Opus 5.5's design skills here.

2. Content Scout
I've been meaning to build a proper, fleshed-out content dashboard where I can see all the videos my competitors are posting, to help with ideation and scripting. I even made it so I can scroll these videos, so I'm basically scrolling productively.

3. Raft Game
Was excited to test Opus 5.5 the day it dropped. I told it to create a Terraria-style raft game with a full crafting system and story.
Left it overnight and it created this: 23,000 lines, and it created every block texture from code. So sick.

🧰 Tools to try
- Someone built a free open source version of Meta's Muse → a personal agent that browses the web, runs tasks and reads your email, on your phone or laptop, and you host it yourself. 2,087 stars on GitHub already.
- Tesseract → After Effects and Premiere Pro, rebuilt for your AI agent. Give ChatGPT or Claude your footage, tell it what you want, and it does the edit. Free, no Adobe subscription.
- UI Skills → an underrated directory of design skills for your AI agent. Install one and the websites it builds stop looking like AI slop.
💎 Cool finds
Someone built a stunning 3D island with Claude Opus 5.5 → about 8 hours, and it ate 59% of his weekly Claude limit.
Trump wants to rename AI "super intelligence" → at the UN this week he said the word "artificial" makes it sound fake.
That's it for this week, folks.
Very grateful that you're reading this very sentence right now.
